Some facts:The Japanese horn scene uses colored amps like 300B and prefers to buy Japanese amps.American horns are mostly slightly modified pro gear, quite a bit away from the price range Lamm has in mind, so the market there is not larger than that ...

I find that all SET amps slightly electrify the sound of acoustic instruments. For example, an acoustic guitar will sound kind of like an electric guitar that is being played through a clean sounding guitar tube amp. Also very common...
A year (and a pair of V2s) goes by like nothing.I just changed V2 tubes again, and this time I dialed the current way down before I fired up the amps, per instructions. After a few minutes, I checked the amps with a (Fluke 189) DM...

Klaus, this thread is for Jessie's horns. My own speakers, if that's what you're after, are mentioned in my Lamm ML2 and K&K phonostage threads. This post will self-destruct in 24 hours.Best regards,Paul S...
I suppose at least you can give him credit for reversing the switch from electrocube 935s back to your favourite 950s....
Nope, I do not see any reason to extend any credit in there. I have no idea where those caps are ins...
Hold on to your ML2s, folks; Romy's only kidding. Aren't you, Romy?
Well, my apologies if I misunderstood you and extended too much credit to your thoughts about ML2 and how this amp interacts with consciousness. I consid...

I too have thought a while about exactly this... there is something that troubles me deeply though about this approach. I have a theory that too small a cap may not work out as well as one might hope. Now, shall I do a Romy and delay revealing my tho...
It took ~3 1/2 hours for the system to charge up and start working as a system again, and then I tried Romy's suggestion to try dropping current (and raising vlotage) on the ML2s. I experimented again and stuck with the 16...

I had no chance to listen to his latest Designs (I know his L2R, LL2 preamps and the ML2.1..) but probably he wanted to realize his latest ideas (who knows) or he realized that in some parts of the world his existing units are simply too cheap compar...

Here is one of these "Audio-Cretins" who is using a ML2.1. I am going to modify it a little bit, new high quality binding posts (WBS pure silver), Mundorf Caps etc. Someone here who did some mods or did think about it?...

I suppose this further erodes my "credibility" regarding the "tube sockets" hysteria, but it is what it is, so here goes:Today I finally had the right combination of alone time and motivation (not to mention great electricity) and I got around to swa...

Adrian, your bad sound may or may not be the result of poor mechanics on your part, however at this point I would put my money on the electricity as the likely suspect. Not to say you couldn't improve on Romy's design, but I am guessing that...

Somewhere in 1997-88 I bought a hundred 6C33C. I believe during those years the where more expensive then now and I paid around $7-8 per tube. Over the years burning the 6C33C in pair of VK-60 (8 tubes), two pair of Lamm ML2 (ML2), ML2 with Melquiade...
Yes, well - I wasn't really saying much; just a vague hypothesis. There is some tendency for lower Rp tubes, (and somewhat related) tubes with a certain harmonic structure, to sound more romantic, and hence impart that quality to mus...

Well, I can't support the statement, that these sockets are bad.I changed 2,5 years ago to Teflon sockets, use my ML2.1 a few times a week, on weekends it is running the whole day...and never have/had any problems.Maybe there are different Qualities ...

Paul, you might want to take a look at the parallel GM-70 amps here:http://www.sacthailand.com/You can get 5 of them for the price of a used ML2, and, well, it is a high power SET....
I absolutely hear the feedback working in the ML2, and I happen to like the effect a lot…
Can you elaborate on it in subjective terms? How what you hear are you able to attribute to feedback and how do you know that it ...

I have written before that Dima is at the finish line with his new power treatment invention.

Dear Romy,
Thank you for the commentary and the advice with regards to the need to have a COGNITIVE ORDER OF SUCCESSION and to test with another speaker in situ first.
Given the varying degrees of how different individuals process COGNITI...

Again, I do not agree with all notion of Rubber sound that Haralanov seeded. I can not speak what was in the situation that “be” described and 400Hz crossover. I do have the 8” version of 25W driver (I think it is 21W) and my feeling that it sou...
I heard back from Lamms about the relay pulses. They suggested I bias the amps again and then Lamms went silent when that didn't work. But the problem disappeared when I got around to replacing the 12AX7s that came w...

.. and therefore I do not know how serious to take you.As far as I know as now there are no people who have built Melquiades. I know that up to now about 5 attempts to do it but no one finished it yet up to the point that might report result. Dima is...

Paul I slightly surprised about your comments. The regulating aerial amplifier tube affected sound very mildly, if ever, at least it was my experience. I had a few different 6AK5 but changing them was not a highly notable effect. I still have left a ...

I got a .pdf file with April Stereophile where Art Dudley writes up about new Lamm 2.2 amp. I am long off the Lamm camp but I do observe what is going on with Lamm equipment as I feel I do have a good grip about it.
I have no idea why Art Dud...

When I read raves from low powered amps with such speaker designs I ask myself, is it product placement or is there a different kind of listening among Americans, Japanese, Europeans...?
If Lamm had actually used the larger 950s in my unit I would probably be less curious about it, but for mine he used 10uF 935 couplers with small 950s for bypass (... I assume they are bypass caps...). Hard to imagine 10 uF ...
